The Mamelodi Sundowns and the South African Football Association (SAFA) are regarded as being named after the teenage phenomenon Siyabonga Mabena.
Mabena recently attracted attention after making his Sundowns debut at the tender age of 16. Mabena hasn't been a member of the Sundowns for very long, though.
In actuality, he spent the most of his early years at the Transnet School of Excellence. At the School of Excellence, he discovered himself playing for the South African under-17 squad. After declaring himself a hot junior talent, he secured a significant transfer to the Brazilian academy.
Despite South Africa's failure to defeat Zambia in the championship game, Mabena was the tournament's standout and took home the Golden Boot.
But he did enough on a personal level, scoring a hat-trick against Malawi and five goals against Seychelles, to prove his mettle as a hotshot. So it's no surprise that Sundowns chose the School of Excellence for their services.
After making a strong impression, Mabena caught the attention of the Sundowns first-team coaching staff and has since remained in the match-day squad. Now this seems to present an unexpected SAFA problem.
According to iDiskiTimes, Masandavana refused to transfer the teenager to the South African U17 Afcon team.
“This week they said they won't let Marvena go because of PSL obligations and we wouldn't be surprised if he played 10 minutes against Stellenbosch.
Before the trip to Algeria, some foreign players will not be included in the squad and some will fly to the United States, but will have to fight with local clubs.
We have nothing against Sundowns, but we're having trouble getting the best preparation for the tournament.
